The founders bring over 50 years of combined experience in the prepaid industry across Australia and Asia. Having pioneered the mobile prepaid space in Australia, they later played a significant role in shaping the gift card industry in the early 2000s. This began with the establishment of the retail third-party industry in Australia, selling gift cards through key retail partners such as Australia Post, Woolworths, Coles, and Myer.
What began as a start-up in 2007 grew into a business generating over $3 billion in annual sales, distributing for major brands including iTunes, Google, JB Hi-Fi, Myer, and many others. With the introduction of prepaid Visa and EFTPOS cards, the founders also pioneered the open loop category in retail – now the dominant prepaid product category in Australia.
Since 2008, they have led the introduction of prepaid gift card programs across several Southeast Asian markets, including Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and India.
As part of this journey, one of the founders also launched an exclusive B2B gift card distribution business in 2007, which successfully serviced many of Australia’s largest corporate organisations including Telstra, BHP, and Atlassian.
Prepaid Visa cards quickly became the most popular product, thanks to their versatility – allowing recipients to spend them anywhere from a remote outback roadhouse to a five-star restaurant.
Their extensive experience in delivering physical gift cards to large enterprises highlighted the opportunity to shift to a more efficient and engaging digital solution. Leveraging open loop products like Mastercard, the founders set out to create a seamless and scalable reward and recognition platform that delivers greater value and a superior user experience.
